  1. I was assigned to this agent/office via Allstate. I’ve never physically been to the office or have met him. I’ve had several issues to deal with, including purchasing a new car 2 years ago. I was financing through a credit union, and the woman who works in the office, Theresa, was super-nice and EXTREMELY helpful in getting all my paperwork together and properly processed as well, and she worked hard to save me money on my policy.

    This year, I had an incident with a rental car in another state. Basically, the windshield got hit by a rock. The rental car company automatically billed my credit card for the damage, even though I had a claim in process. Initially, I called my local office to fiIe the claim, but I was told I needed to call the general 1-800 number and file the claim that way. While in process, I kept getting told different things – that the rental car company would reimburse me once the claim went through AND that it was actually Allstate’s responsibility to reimburse me once the claim went through. This information was confusing and unclear. I went back and forth for over a month on this issue between the rental car company and the insurance agency to figure out the proper process (sending in all my paperwork, and making sure it was filed) to put the claim through and get reimbursed. I got the run-around on both ends. When I wasn’t getting anywhere, I called my agent to ask for help. He really wasn’t able to help me. His response was cancel the credit card charge.” At some point, I called again and spoke to the assistant (not sure if it was Theresa), and she was able to make things happen for me. She made some phone calls, got back to me, and finally I got the reimbursement because of what she accomplished. So, while I haven’t been super-impressed with him, his staff has been awesome. I’m also not sure of the purpose of having an individual agent if I have to call the 1-800 number to file claims. Why do I have an agent if he can’t help me when I have a problem?”
