1. Mr. Holloway has made useful suggestions about coverages. For example, when I moved to Phoenix, I was not aware of the frequency that rocks cracked windshields. He suggested that coverage and in the 25 years that I have been here, I have replaced 8 windshields on different vehicles and no additional cost to me. As I gained a little wealth, I wanted an umbrella liability policy for $1 million so that State Farm’s legal team would defend me if I ever encountered some spurious claim. I drove Porche’s, Mercedes, and other nice cars and wore tailored suits and Rolex watches. So I was concerned that someone might see me or my wife as some kind of easy mark for a lawsuit. He priced the policy and the suggested that I lower the liability limits on each auto policy since the umbrella policy would cover that risk. That lowered my payments on the auto policies. He did not have to do that.

2. I arrived in Phoenix in early 1993. I had been using State Farm for home and auto since I was 16 for auto and 21 for home. So, when I moved to a new state, I sought an agent of State Farm whose office would be close to my home and to work. Doug’s office was in the middle of the two locations. He quickly issued new policies on my cars and we discussed desired coverages. I like a large deductible on cars and home to keep prices down. I have the extra money for the deductible when claims occur.

   Doug recommended complete glass replacement for my car windshields since rocks hit windshields a lot in Phoenix. I had only lost one windshield in 30 years of driving, so this seemed strange. But I took his advice and have had 8 windshields replaced in my 22 years in Phoenix.

   He has always had a support staff that is as familiar with coverage and prices as he is. So, whenever I change cars or add expensive jewelry to the homeowner’s coverage, his staff can answer the questions if he is not there. I essentially get service any time during business hours, even during lunch hours.

   I have had some peculiar coverage situations and Doug’s advice provided me with the optimum cost and coverage package to carry me through the peculiar situation. He recommended a million dollar umbrella liability policy since I was a business owner with 6000 employees and there was liability risk from a personal standpoint. This policy allowed me to greatly reduce the dollar amounts on my automobile liability policies and reduced their premiums. Not every agent would give that advice.

   In summary, Doug Holloway has been all a person could want in an insurance agent.
